About FUMBL FEST
The Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn presents FUMBL Fest, a one-night celebration of baseball, film, music, and community on Thursday, September 17, 2026, aboard the historic Waterfront Museum in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
The evening features the world premiere of The Mascot Race, an original silent comedy presented with a live musical score, along with the award-winning short film Day of the Catch, also performed live. Guests can enjoy live music, baseball-inspired games, complimentary mocktails, and an evening unlike anything else on New York's cultural calendar.
Originally founded as a sandlot baseball team for New York City musicians during the pandemic, the Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn has evolved into a performing arts collective dedicated to telling baseball stories through original music, silent film, and live performance.

About the Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn
Also known as FUMBL (the Formerly Unemployed Musicians' Baseball League), the Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn began in 2020 as a community baseball team for New York City musicians.
What started as afternoons on the sandlot gradually became an artistic mission. Today, the Club creates original films, live music performances, and storytelling events that use baseball as a lens for comedy, history, and human connection.
Rather than treating baseball as nostalgia, the Club explores forgotten stories, colorful characters, and the joy of community through original artistic work.
About Jared Engel
Jared Engel is a Brooklyn-based musician, filmmaker, composer, and baseball historian. A longtime fixture in New York's acoustic music community, he founded the Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn in 2020.
His first film, Day of the Catch, has been screened at festivals across the United States and internationally, while his second film, The Mascot Race, premieres at FUMBL Fest.

Day of the Catch (2025)
A grapefruit League Legend
Day of the Catch
Winner of multiple festival awards, Day of the Catch brings to life the legendary 1915 spring training prank in which a young Casey Stengel unknowingly chased a grapefruit around the outfield after teammates replaced a baseball with the fruit.
The film is performed live with an original score by the Musicians' Baseball Club of Brooklyn.
